As a producer, I’m more the deep guy... trying to put some emotions into my stuff and I’m happy, kinda like a therapy... as a DJ it’s always different... depends on the mood that day... from moody to super happy, from deep to bangin'…

DJ Interview Till Von Sein Deeper Vibes Definition Vol. 4 The Interview

Till Von Sein is the master of arrogance, mostly because he rocks crispy white tee’s with catchy slogans on them for like maybe two or three uses tops and then throws them away. Plus whenever he’s buying sneakers, homeboy always cops two pair. I mean, if that ain’t keeping it really real in Berlin, then we don’t even know what is.” Soul Clap, Boston, 2010.

As a producer, Till has had a constant stream of success with deep, soulful grooves on leading labels from all corners of the globe. Some of them include: Suol, Airdrop Records, Composite RecordsCR2 RecordsDirtcrew Recordings, Doppelgaenger, Futureaudio, Galaktika RecordsGastspiel Records, KeinemusikLoco Records, Ministry of Sound (Germany), Moodmusic, Morris Audio City Sport EditionMurmur, Pets Recordings, Plastic CitySeamless Recordings, Soulfooled, Supplement Facts, Trenton Records, Tretmuehle, Tronic SoundzWassabi Recordings.

DJing or producing? Or both? Why?

DJing… I still have the same feeling for it since I did it the first time… I just love it! But of course I dig the production part as well. I have to be in the zone though, otherwise it doesn’t make sense for me. I don’t like the idea of just producing something to have a record in the market to gather some gigs… and of course its different when I produce with guys like Aera, Tigerskin or Chopstick…that’s always a fun thing and they are much better producers than I am.

What inspires you as a DJ? And as a producer?

Everything… traveling, my friends… everything. I can never rest, always on the run, so I got so much input and that’s just perfect the way it is!

How do you define yourself as a DJ/producer?

As a producer, I think I’m more the deep guy… trying to put some emotions into my stuff and I’m happy, kinda like a therapy… as a DJ it’s always different… depends on the mood that day… from moody to super happy, from deep to bangin’…

Who are your biggest influences in the house music scene (past & present)?

Superdiscount, Motorbass, Pepe Bradock, Versatile, Roule… that was then, and now? The Polish House Mafia (aka Catz ‘n Dogz, Pol_On & SLG), KiNK & Lee Curtiss… I guess these are the guys who really blow my mind right now… but in the end I still wanna do house music which sounds like a mixture of a Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde and D Angelo… if this would work at somepoint I’m happy :)

When & where did it all start for you? Was there a defining moment that changed everything?

1998… that was the year when I was really pissed on the whole rap thing and got more ‘n more into house.

What’s your take on the digital music revolution? Do you miss vinyl?

Nope… I like it, still have a lot.. but I love my CD case as well :D

If you could go back in time to any year in the history of house music, what year would you go to? Why?

I’m not that much the guy who looks into the past… but if so, rather late 70′ies New York… the whole disco thing… guess that was just the best time ever for music in general, the whole Hip Hop thing came up, disco was huge … ‘77 maybe, when I was born.. good year :D  !

Your mixes chart on Deeper Vibes every time, can we expect to see more of you on the site?

Sure… if I find some time … it’s all a matter of time these days.

Tell us about this exclusive set you’ve put together for Deeper Vibes

Just a bunch of jamz I really dig right now… something you can listen to in the car, at home & in the club…

You’ve become a firm favourite on Deeper Vibes, can we expect to see more of you on the site?

I’ll be around for exclusives as long as time permits, but I’ll always share my music with the people, its very important to me!

How do you define your sound?

House… but in a classic way… I can drop a rap tune or a funk tune, I could drop a disco tune or an pop tune… in the end it’s always House for me…

Bacon and eggs or cereal? Coffee or juice?

Everything… big fan of breakfast… I’m a breakfast dude, can do that all day!

What is your favourite time slot on the decks? Why?

All night… I like playing long sets… I dont like the 2 hours prime time thing… I’m not really made for this but if so, I’d rather play the start or the end.

What is your favourite brand? Any particular reason?

There is not really a favourite.. I run a store for 7 years now, so I’m used to a lot of nice brands… I like classics… Nike, Levis, Clarks… maybe Supreme… I like the whole history of the shop and I love their stuff as they always manage to suprise me with each new season.
